13X Molecular Sieve
Molecular sieves are synthetically made zeolites, which are having definite pores and uniform dimension cavities. It has three-dimensional structures of silicon dioxide (Sio2) and aluminium oxide (AlO4), which is internally connected. Molecular sieve 13X is the sodium form of the type X crystal and has a pore diameter of 10A° (1.0nm). It will adsorb molecules with a kinetic pore diameter of less than 10 Angstrom and exclude those larger.
The sodium-based molecular sieve 13X is based on the molecule from the type of X crystalline foam, which has a larger pore size than other types of A crystalline form that is 3A, 4A and 5A. The pore size of 13X molecular is about 10A°. This type of molecular sieve can absorb molecules diameter less than 9 angstroms. 13X molecular sieve desiccant mainly used for industrial natural gases, including CO2, H2S, O2, H2, NH3, etc. absorb the drying water and moisture apart from these types of gases. Type 13X molecular sieve also used in mercaptan removal, catalyst carrying, air compressor systems, solvent (liquid) purification, drying of sulfurated hydrogen, separation of carbon dioxide, oxygen, and water from the air. 13X molecular sieve beads and pellets can also be used in various applications.
It can be regenerated by heating and purging with carrier gas. The required temperature will be 260 to 320 degrees centigrade after the regeneration. The cooling period is necessary to reduce molecular sieve temperature at room temperature. It can also be regenerated by pressure swing. It is called pressure swing adsorption. The molecular sieve is regenerated by purging by pure medium liquid or gas without any impurities in this method.
