Pharmaceutical coil is used for tablet packaging to provide a safe, nontoxic, aesthetically
pleasing, easy to use, traditional filler. It ensures freshness and stability in shipping and storing of ethical and generic pharmaceuticals, vitamins and food supplements.

Specialty Products:

LIGHT WEIGHT COIL
Light weight coil ranges from 13 grains per yard up to 25 grains per yard and is available in cotton, rayon and polyester. Applications for light weight coil are: swabs, laboratory use and filtration.

CARDED PRODUCTS
Soft batting can be produced to meet customer’s specific requirements. Custom weights, roll sizes and core dimensions are available. The maximum width is 40”. Applications for carded products are: funeral industry, wound care, medical and veterinary applications, filtration and jewelry box filler.

MEDICAL BALLS
Medical balls are available in Cotton and Rayon fiber. All balls are made from 100% cotton or rayon fiber, meeting USP specifications.

Standard sizes are:

Medium 4000 balls per case Size: 4 grains per ball
Large 2000 balls per case Size: 14 grains per ball

Types of Fiber:

Pharmaceutical coil is available in three types of fiber: cotton, rayon and polyester. Each provides distinct advantages and applications.

COTTON
Carolina Absorbent Cotton is the only vertically integrated cotton coil manufacturer in the United States. Cotton coil is composed of 100% bleached, absorbent cotton. The cotton fibers are selected for cleanliness and are designed to give superior performance in packaging pharmaceutical products.

Other cotton characteristics include:

• Natural fiber
• Cuts easily
• Moisture content is NMT 8.0%
• Creates a dry environment inside the bottle
• Most commonly used in bottling of tablets and capsules
• Biodegradable

RAYON
Rayon coil is formulated of 100% absorbent rayon fibers.

Other rayon characteristics include:

• Man-made fiber (cellulose)
• Uniform fiber length
• Cuts or tears easily
• Moisture content is NMT 11%
• Most commonly used in the bottling of tablets
• Biodegradable

POLYESTER
Polyester coil is a white, odorless, soft, low moisture, resilient material comprised of 100% polyester fibers.

Other polyester characteristics include:

• Man-made fiber (petroleum derived)
• Uniform in fiber length
• Non-fluorescent
• Non-absorbent – will not introduce moisture or extract
• moisture from the bottle
• Moisture content is NMT 1%
• Most commonly used in bottling of soft-gel capsules
